Memories

A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you!

Pinched from Seamus (taaaaaa, you've made my life easier today) hehe

It was the dark and errant curl of your hair, framing your eye and playing along the line of your cheek that caught my attention so. You were talking, but the words were just music on the breeze; I was mesmerized. We’d met only hours before and there was so little time left before your plane departed and I was determined to drink in your full measure, the caprices of life were not to be trusted even though I knew you would return. To where had time escaped?

You saw the child first, the ragged shirt of indistinguishable color from the stains and dirt of the street. His smile belied his appearance and matched the flowers he was peddling near the terminal door. Squatting to speak to him at eye level, you bought a single lily and paid him for a bouquet and left him smiling larger than his face could contain. We passed through the terminal doors and the only sound was the faint click of your heel on the terrazzo floor, neither of us willing to break the fragile silence as we approached the security gates. Turning, you handed me the flower, cradled my face in your hands and kissed me softly. There was no need for words; our eyes said there would be more times to come.

So there we were! On the Jerry Springer show. Do you remember? Of course you do! Remember how we sent in that fake letter to see if we could actually get on the show and then when they actually called we had to fake the whole thing? If I remember correctly... "You stole my husband before we became lesbian lovers and then you found out I was really a man!" The part I remember the best though was how the audience cheered while you took your top off and danced around the stage.

Good times.

I oculdnt believe we ended up in that bar where that rugby team was. My God, do you rememeber that one guy, with the blue eyes? I thought you two were gonna go at it righ ton the pool table, man that was hot!! And his buddy, with the long hair, I still touch my neck on that spot where he kissed me.

Then hours later, when we ended up in that motel with them, I dont have to remind you of THAT, I hope. ;)

Muah!!

"Starlight Express, Starlight Express, please do take me to see Starlight Express!"

And so I did take you there. Couldn't stand your begging and pleading anymore. ;) We witnessed Kapa Kitchen's marvellous performance as the two-faced Caboose. During the 2nd act, you were terrified of him!
And dare I remind you of how you wanted to be Pearl once you'd seen the show? You went out to buy pink things every Friday. It still scares me when I think of it! Pink wigs, pink dressed, pink rouge, pink glitter, pink lipstick. Get a grip!
Anyway, the day we saw that show was also the day you had your first German apple cake. Mit Schlagsahne!

Mush,

You remember the time...we were pinned down high in the mountains, our only chance to get across the pass on a brilliantly clear midnight. The enemy had been pounding us with mortars, hemming us into a narrow valley with supression fire since dawn.

The dust clung to our bodies thick and chill, all the heat of the desert escaping into the darkness. I felt like I was going to crack, but I remember that you always had a joke to tell, some funny remebrance of days past--those things really pulled me through.

When they finally wound down, out of ammo or just plain fatigued from twenty hours of shelling our position, we slipped up and past their flanking position. It was a close one. I remember that a few of the enemy soldiers were close enough to us to touch, walking right by the ditch where we crouched.

That's what I remember. Hope you remember it that way, too.
